ALUMINE RIVER

This river runs for 100 miles (160 km). It is born from Alumine lake, and during its way receives water from many medium and small seized tributary rivers and creeks (i.e., Pulmari, Ruca Choroi, Quillen, Nahuel Mapi, Malleo). Alumine river ends at the confluence with Chimehuin river. Deep pools, runs and riffles, big rocks and fallen woods forming spectacular pockets and drop offs, all of them home for trophy browns and rainbows.Villa Hermosa offers the possibility to float it. One of our main lodges is on the bank of this river.

MALLEO RIVER

The confluence of Alumine and Chimehuin rivers is where the spectacular Collon Cura is born. The most fantastic steppe scenery runs through the Collon Cura valley along its 25 miles (40 km) way. It is a slow and calm river, with big and deep pools and long runs. 17 to 22 inches rainbows and browns are there during the whole season. From mid march to end of may the huge migratory browns start to swim up by this river. That is the time to cast a minnow streamer looking for the 25 to 30 inches fish. There is very good population of our 2 kinds of native Patagonian perch, the bigmouth or “Bocona”, and the smallmouth. Floating and wadding this river gives the fishermen the chance to experiment many different fishing techniques.

CHIMEHUIN RIVER

The most famous mid sized river of all North Patagonia. It is born on the Tromen lake and runs for 40 miles, flowing finally into the Alumine river. On its way it offers indescribable easy wadding riffles, runs and pools. It has a very good population of Rainbows and Browns, with chances of a trophy. Malleo is a very technical river that requires very good fishing skills. Delicate presentations are a must.

CALEUFU RIVER

This river is born at the confluence of Filo Hua Hum and Meliquina rivers. It is 30 miles (45 km) long and it goes through big extensions of private properties without any ground public access. So, the only way to fish this river is floating it. Consequently, the fishing pressure is very low. A good day on Caleufu would give you around 60 to 70 strikes per rod. Rainbows average size is between 15 to 17 inches, and Browns between 17 to 20 inches.
Because of the distance between the start and the exit point (around 28 miles), Caleufu river excursion takes two or three days. Villa Hermosa sets for you luxury campings at the river bank.

OUR LAKES

For those fishermen who enjoy lake fishing, Villa Hermosa takes them on motor boats, drift boats or belly boats to our most beautiful lakes where attractor dry flies or classic streamers are extremely effective. In these excursions there are always big chances of a trophy Brown, Rainbow or Brook… Our most famous lakes are Tromen, Paimun Huechulafquen and Filo Hua Hum.
